As I discover favorites in health and beauty, of course the first place I’m going to share them is right here on MissMaven.com! One thing I don’t write too much about is body care, simply because I have very few products that I actually like and consistently use. And then came along LATHER: I was sent some of their products to test out, and considering what I’d read about the products prior to trying them, I was intrigued. LATHER was birthed right here in Pasadena, CA, (okay, not right here… Pasadena’s a neighboring city to mine) as a result of the founder’s sensitivity to chemicals and fragrances. Emilie Davidson Hoyt went on to create a line of cruelty-free products made from natural ingredients and packaged in eco-friendly materials. And not just any products; these are the real deal!
Rather than go through the lengthy process of explaining each product, I’m going to share some of my favorites as well as a list of ingredients you’ll find in LATHER products. Between botanicals and essential oils, they’ve got quite a selection of ingredients: Sweet almond oil, apricot oil, sunflower oil, avocado oil, camellia extract, olive leaf, pomegranate extracts, honey extract, (excellent for skin!) coconut oil, algae, cucumber, ginseng, St. John’s Wort, organic aloe vera, licorice root, walnut shell powder, powdered bamboo, among other natural ingredients. But what I think makes these products so effective is the combination of these natural ingredients and a select few extras like hyaluronic acid and glycerin, as well as vitamins like A, C, and E. As I said, honey is such a powerful ingredient when it comes to skincare, so the Honey Moisture Mask with Propolis Extract was one of the products I was most eager to try. This stuff has been so good to my dry skin! It’s a gentle mask meant to hydrate and soften skin, so it’s ideal for dry types. It’s an interesting mask, though: The directions say to leave it on for 20 minutes then rub the excess into the skin, no rinsing necessary. I tried it that way and it worked out just great, but I think next time I’m going to take a hot towel and wipe off the excess. I’m hoping the heat of the towel will allow my pores to open up and really drink in that moisture even more!
I’ve been using the Coconut Creme Body Wash religiously since I received the products. If you keep up with my blog, you know I’m pretty openly irritated about my crocodile skin; but since I’ve been using the Coconut Creme Body Wash I’ve noticed my skin, without lotion, is more smooth and soft than it’s ever been. Granted for the average person who has normal skin, it still might look dry, but for me it’s close to a miracle! So you can imagine adding a lotion into the mix makes it even better. My favorite is the Pink Grapefruit & Ginger Illuminating Creme for two reasons: One is that it’s a light formula that gives my skin mega moisture without any greasiness; and two, it’s got a touch of shimmer to it that adds a gorgeous glow to my skin! When I’m racing out the door and don’t have time to twist off the top of the body creme, I go for the Sweet Almond & Sea Kelp Moisturizer in the pump bottle; same amazing hydration, just no shimmer in this one.
I’m still testing out more of the products but so far I’m loving what I’ve tried. I’ll definitely keep you all posted as I try more of them and surely discover more favorites! Check out LATHER.com to learn more about their products and find some of your own favorites.
